Homem Simples is a rapper from Sertão da Farinha Podre (“Backlands of Rotten Flour”), a region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where the Bandeirantes decimated indigenous peoples during incursions. According to local stories, they left flour in the forest as provisions and, when they forgot where, the four rotted.
The film follows one workday in the life of a man who wakes up and sees no one. Brazil still works to buy the flour that colonization left to rot.
